Newborn Photography Tips for the Perfect Photo-Shoot!

Encourage your mom to get in front of the camera ...

After having my babies photography, the last thing I wanted to do was take a picture and try hard to prepare for the camera. I know firsthand how difficult it is for a mother to get in front of that camera. But I also know how important it is.

Mothers work harder and also love more.

They love that baby so much that they will spend their days and nights, taking pictures of the sleeping baby, awake, yawning, taking a bath, eating, cuddling their brothers and cuddling with dad. There will be so many images at the moment that the baby meets one and the sad reality is that Mommy will hardly be in any of them.

Put it in that newborn image. She will treasure it and so will the baby years from now. The important thing is to keep the mom/baby postures easy and without much effort on behalf of the mother. Most likely, she still feels uncomfortable and in pain and possibly even recovering from surgery, so being kind is crucial.

Supports: your best friend and the worst enemy

One of my biggest mistakes, when I started, was that I bought all my accessories/ wraps/blankets/headbands for each photography session. When I settled in, I would have a mini panic attack because I had no idea where I should start. Now I plan 3 to 4 different configurations (based on the client's preferences and expectations) and that's it. I am often inspired by something that the client also owns, such as a blanket woven by the grandmother or something else that is special for mom and dad, so it is not strange that I do not even wear everything I bring for the newborn photo shoot.
